Faculty Development Institute

Our Mission

The Virginia Tech Faculty Development Institute (FDI) has two major objectives in its mission that have been the underlying force since its inception in 1993.

  • Provide the opportunity for all faculty in the University to participate in the Faculty Development Program. The overarching goal is to motivate faculty to investigate, create, and use creative, innovative, productive instructional strategies that acknowledge and address the enormous potential of the digital age.
  • Provide participants who complete the program with access to state-of-the-art learning technologies, the knowledge and discernment to use them wisely, and the motivation to collaborate with their colleagues in leveraging learning technologies in every part of their work as intellectuals.
