Acrobat 7: Enhancing PDF Files with Advanced Features

  Workshop Description  
   
  Are you a user of the PDF file format and would like to know how to extend the capabilities of these files? In this short course, advanced features of Adobe Acrobat will be explored. Topics to be covered include how to add comments (note tool, text editing tool, stamp tool, highlighting tool), and how to use advanced security features (restrict printing, prevent changes to a document, digital IDs, etc.). In addition, creating forms in pdf with Adobe Acrobat Professional (version 7) will be covered as well. Hands-on activities will be an integral part of this session.

Workshop Assumptions:
1. Participants will know how to use a word processor.
2. Participants will know how to create a PDF document.

Workshop Objectives:
1. Provide an overview of the comment tools.
2. Provide a description of the ways that different types of comments can be made.
3. Provide an overview of PDF options for document access control and security policies.
4. Enhance a PDF file with form tools, such as adding radio button, text field, check box, etc.
5. Discuss other potential enhancements, such as accessibility functions.

Instructional Outcomes:
1. Participants will know when to use PDF files.
2. Participants will be able to add different types of comments within a PDF file.
3. Participants will get familiar with the PDF potential for collaborative review.
4. Participants will be able to get familiar with the PDF security policies.
5. Participants will be able to create form fields with basic caculation within a PDF file.
6. Participants will get to know the potential of creating pdf forms.
7. Participants will become aware of the difference of using PDF and HTML forms on web.
