  Workshop Description  
   
  Have you ever wondered what all of those extra buttons and features were in Microsoft Word? Do you use Microsoft Word in your teaching? Would you like to enhance the documents you write? This short course will provide participants with hands-on experience in using advanced features of Microsoft Word, such as Tables of Contents and Indices, Track Changes and other collaborative editing tools, Macros, and Style guides. Participants will be given hands-on opportunities to practice using each of the tools, and discussion will focus on how these tools can be used in publishing and teaching.

Workshop Assumptions:
1. Participants have a need to work with higher-end features of Microsoft Word.
2. Participants have a need to integrate Microsoft Word with their instruction.
3. Participants have a need to use Microsoft Word to create publishable documents.
4. Participants have prior experience using Microsoft Word to create documents.

Workshop Objectives:
1. Explore Microsoft Word’s advanced features, such as Indexing, Collaborative Editing Tools, Style designs, and Macros.
2. Practice using advanced Word features.
3. Discuss methods of incorporating Microsoft Word tools into teaching and writing for publication.

Instructional Outcomes:
1. Participants will be able to use Track Changes and other collaborative editing tools.
2. Participants will be able to create and modify Styles for documentation and layout issues.
3. Participants will be able to create Tables of Contents.
4. Participants will be able to create Macros for frequent and repeated tasks.
5. Participants will be able to incorporate advanced Word tools into their teaching and publishing efforts.
