• BS Interdisciplinary Studies: Elementary Education with concentrations in Math/CS & Cultural Arts (graduated Summa Cum Laude)
• MAEd. Curriculum & Instruction: Instructional Design & Technology

Background:
After completing his BS in Elementary Education at Radford University where, as a student teacher, he developed numerous interactive online exercises for my students, Rob was employed briefly as an Instructional Designer at Interactive Design and Development in Blacksburg. Soon thereafter, he returned to grad school at Virginia Tech in Instructional Design & Technology and upon graduating from the program with an MAEd was hired by IDDL as an Instructional Designer/Developer. He has worked with faculty to create a number of online courses and has developed a number of interactive multimedia tools for use in Virginia Tech's distance learning courses.

His primary professional interests include standards-based, accessible, web/multimedia development. He also researches the incorporation of professional project management practices and research-based instructional design procedures into the development of effective online learning in a university environment. Currently, he is working also with Firefox extension development. and asynchronous Javascript and XML (AJAX).

He could show you the ins and outs of Dreamweaver, Flash, or Director. Or, he could teach you how to build nifty interactive sites from scratch using XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP or Perl, and MySQL. It's also a lot of fun to make extensions to the popular browser, Firefox, and he could get you up to speed with that if you wanted. The possibilities are limitless!!! Just ask him...

He is married with three grown step-daughters and a two-year-old son who is absolutely perfect in every possible way (no kidding!). He enjoys group dancing such as square dance and contra dance and also partner dancing like swing, salsa, and some ballroom styles. Rob plays guitar and banjo passably well and several other instruments very badly, and he enjoys writing songs. He is a voracious reader and particularly like popular works on cognitive neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and the accelerating pace of technological change.
