Introduction to Streaming Audio & Video


Workshop Assumptions:
  1. Participants will have a working knowledge of the client/server model of interaction on the web.
  2. Participants will be able to construct a simple web page with either HTML coding or a web assistant such as Claris Home Page or Microsoft Word.
  3. Participants will have a basic understanding of a media file (audio or video file) and its component parts and limitations.

Workshop Objectives:
  1. Describe and demonstrate streaming media technologies using the RealMedia product.
  2. Provide hands-on opportunities for participants to create streaming media objects.
  3. Provide access to the CyberSchool streaming server to realize objects created in the workshop.
  4. Provide resources and follow-up for the participants to support the inclusion of streamed media in their individual projects.

Instructional Outcomes:
  1. Participants will be able to describe the basic interaction of how served media works on the web.
  2. Participants will be able to create streamed media using the RealMedia Encoder.
  3. Participants will be able to create a web page that uses streamed media files on the web.
  4. Participants will be able to access a web site with support information on the streaming technologies.
