Workshop Assumptions:
  • Participants will have a basic understanding of the World Wide Web.
  • Participants will have some knowledge of the client/server model of interaction on the web.

Educational Objectives:
  • Describe and demonstrate processes of good web site design with an emphasis on ease of navigation, accessibilty for end users and short downloading times.
  • Describe and demonstrate the basics of good web page design and provide strategies for participants to incorporate these design features in their own web content.
  • Provide hands-on opportunities for participants to view good and bad web content.
  • Provide resources and follow-up for the participants to support the design and development of good web content in their classes and individual projects.

Instructional Outcomes:
  • Participants will be able to describe processes for creating a cohesive web site.
  • Participants will be able to describe some good and bad attributes of a web page.
  • Participants will be able to discuss common errors in developing web content.
  • Participants will be able to identify limitations in operating systems, displays, modems and web browsers that affect the appearance and usefulness of web pages for end users.
  • Participants will be able to locate web design information that can be incorporated into their own content.
