Web Portals: Uses and Structure

What is a web portal? How do you determine if you need a portal?

A web portal is a website that provides access to a number of services and/or a collection of related content. A portal can be organized to cover a range of topics (horizontal) or to focus on a single topic (vertical).

Learn the four main features of a successful portal and how to add to your site.

Campus resources, such as an Hokie Pipeline and "My.vt" will be reviewed.

Prerequisite: Experience with web authoring; Skill level: Intermediate
