- Workshop Assumptions:
- Participants will have viewed web pages with graphic
elements.
Educational Objectives:
- List and define computer graphic terminology.
- Discuss commonly used graphic formats for web pages,
including advantages and disadvantages of each.
- Describe steps for using a flatbed scanner to digitize
photos, manipulate and clean up resulting images and
save as appropriate graphic files.
- Provide hands-on opportunities for participants
use a graphics package commonly used on campus to
scan, manipulate and save images.
- Discuss appropriate file-naming strategies for web
and other uses.
Instructional Outcomes:

Participants will be able to distinguish
different graphic formats and discuss appropriate
uses of each.

Participants will be able to configure
scanning options depending on the intended use of
the image file.

Participants will be able to perform
basic scanning tasks, including common manipulations
like sharpening an image, cropping out unwanted
sections of images, rotating and resizing images
and adjusting the appearance of scanned images.

Participants will be able
to appropriately name image file according
to their intended use.

Participants will be able
to understand the relationship between
web page (HTML) files and their separate
but required image files.
