Introduction to Acrobat 4 - Creating PDF files

Prerequisite: Knowledge of Word Processing; Skill level: Basic

Workshop Assumptions:
  • Participants will have basic word processng skills.

Educational Objectives:
  • Define advatnatges and disadvantages for using PDFs online.
  • List the parts and uses of each of the Acrobat suite of software.
  • List the three methods for creating a PDF file (conversion of electronic documents, scanning to PDF and capturing web pages).
  • Use the Print command to convert electronic files to PDF.
  • Enhance a PDF with navigational aids like bookmarks and web hotspots.
  • View other enhancements, including multimedia elements, forms, interactivity and collaborative notes.

Instructional Outcomes:
  • Participants will be able to convert existing electronic documents to PDFs using the Print command.
  • Participants will be able to add basic enhancements to a PDF, including navigational aids like bookmarks and web hotspots.
  • Participants will be able to link to PDF files from their web pages.
  • Participants will be able to use the built-in help available in the Acrobat program suite.
