- Workshop Assumptions:
- Participants should have a working knowledge of basic word
processing.
- Participants should be able to construct a simple document
with text and imported graphics using Word Perfect or Microsoft
Word.
- Participants should have a basic understanding of page layout
and design issues or have questions concerning what constitutes
good layout and design.
- Workshop Objectives:
- Describe the Adobe PageMaker paradigm.
- Describe and demonstrate the possibilities of basic desktop
publishing including cursory layout & design, working with
text, images, and graphics.
- Provide hands-on opportunities for participants to create
the beginnings of a newsletter, brochure, or other document
that can be created effectively with in a desktop publishing
program.
- Provide personalized consultation and direction for projects
that are proposed by the participants.
- Provide resources and follow-up for the participants to
support the inclusion of other media types (graphics, images,
etc.) in their individual projects.
- Instructional Outcomes:
- Participants will be able to describe the basic model of
desktop publishing.
- Participants will be able to create a basic document in
PageMaker containing text, graphics, and images.
- Participants will have the tools to begin a project on their
own using PageMaker.
- Participants will know how to get more assistance with PageMaker.
