  Workshop Description  
  Are you looking for an image editor that produces high-quality results like Adobe Photoshop CS2 but lacks the complexity of that tool? This short course will provide participants with the skills that are needed to prepare images for the web using Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. Participants in this session will learn how to make image adjustments (color, luminosity, contrast, etc.), create basic layers, apply filters, and adjust image resolution for optimal quality on the web. A full exploration of Elements' tool bar will also be provided during this session. No prior experience with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is required. Hands-on activities will be an integral part of this session. Please note that Elements 3.0 is the latest version on the Macintosh.

Workshop Assumptions:
1. Participants have a need to work with digital images.
2. Participants have prior experience with desktop computers.
3. Participants have a need to use a scanner.
4. Participants have a need to place images on the Web.

Workshop Objectives:
1. Discuss key imaging topics, including scanning, cropping, rotating, and image adjustments.
2. Explore the Photoshop Elements toolbars.
3. Allow participants to edit their images using Adobe Photoshop Elements.
4. Save images in the correct format for Web pages.

Instructional Outcomes:
1. Participants will have a basic understanding of the key issues with respect to image capture.
2. Participants will be able to scan, crop, and adjust images in Elements.
3. Participants will be able to complete basic modifications of an image using Elements.
4. Participants will be able to save images in a format suitable for the Web.
