  Workshop Description  
  Are you looking for a better way to schedule meetings with your colleagues? Do you need access to your e-mail from multiple computers around town or around the world? Are you currently using Microsoft Outlook for e-mail but want to learn more about its features and the Exchange server? This short course will provide participants with an overview of the e-mailing software Outlook along with the only centrally supported calendaring system on campus: Exchange. In addition to highlighting ways to manage e-mail and SPAM, this session will also provide an overview of how to manage appointments, tasks, and contacts through Outlook with Exchange. Hands-on activities will be an integral part of this session.

Workshop Assumptions:
• Participant have a general understanding of email and email clients.
• Participants are familiar with Windows working environment (this workshop does not cover Outlook on Mac). • Participants are familiar with “look and feel” of Microsoft Office applications’ interface.
• Participant are interested in a single application for e-mail, online calendaring, and task tracking.

Workshop Objectives:
• Participants will become familiar with the basic features of Outlook on the Virginia Tech Exchange server.

Instructional Outcomes:

• Participants will create and send email messages, create distribution lists, schedule meetings, share calendars, and create and complete tasks.
• Participants will become familiar with email management in Outlook and resources for additional information pertinent to Virginia Tech requirements.
