Planning Ahead While You Develop Your Online Course: Versioning Techniques |

| Development of course materials can be a long and complex process. Because it can take months to produce finished products that can be used by your students it is critical that you make an effort to keep track of your progress along the way. Versioning and revision control is any practice which tracks and provides controls over changes to source code, documents or configuration files. It can provide you with the ability to back out of changes, follow multiple lines of development. It also allows you a change to reduce damage of mistakes and collaborate efficiently with colleagues.
In this session you will get a chance to discuss the topic of Versioning with the system administrators of the Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning. Additionally you will get a chance to work through a sample project using Subversion, a free/open-source version control system. |
