How to Make a CourseInfo Quiz

  1. Go to the CourseInfo course that you created yesterday. You can find them at http://www.learn.vt.edu:8080 located under the "Test and Development" courses.
  2. Enter your Virginia Tech PID and Password.
  3. Select the blue-green "Control Panel" button at the bottom of the left frame.
  4. Under "Assessment", select "Quiz Generator".
  5. Use the pull-down menu to choose either an assessed quiz or a survey and then select Submit
  6. On the screen that follows, give your quiz a name and brief description and then select Submit.
  7. You should now be on the main page for editing a quiz. Notice that there are different shaded areas for the varieties of information that Courseinfo needs to construct your quiz
  8. As of this point, there are no questions.
  9. Select "Multiple Choice" from the pull-down bar and then select Add Question.

Editing a Question:

  1. Enter the appropriate information in the "Question Text" and "Question Points" fields.
  2. Type in answers in the "Answer Value" boxes and choose the correct answer with the radio buttons. You may select "Remove" at the end of each row for less than the default amount of 4 questions or select "Add Answer" if you wish to have additional choices available.
  3. Under Feedback enter text if you wish. It can be as simple as "Good guess!" or "Too bad!"
  4. When you are satisfied with the state of all the fields, select "Update Question" under Submit Information, at the bottom of the page.Upon returning to the Quiz Editing Screen, please select Multiple Choice, and then Add Question. Go through the Question Editing routine until you have created 3 or 4 questions. When you are through creating and editing questions you will return to the Edit Quiz entry page.
  5. Under Assessment Instructions you can enter general instructions taking the quiz (optional).
  6. Modify the order by pulling down the number beside each question.
  7. At the bottom of the page in the gray box there are additional options to consider. Please read the instructions carefully and select "Yes" for the first three and "No" for the remaining two options.
  8. When you are finished with your editing, select "Save and Finish" at the very bottom of the page. On the next screen, return to the Control Panel.

Making a Quiz Available

  1. Select "Assessment Tools" under Assessment
  2. Here you will see a listing of all the quizzes and surveys that you have created. Note that the status of the quiz you just created is "Not Available." (if you followed the instructions! )
  3. Select "Update" for the quiz that you just created.
  4. On the page that comes up, Assessment Availability, you will see a simple radio button choice to make the quiz available to students. When "Yes" is selected students can take the quiz so this option must only be changed at the time that is intended to make it available. Once the period of time has elapsed for taking the quiz, do NOT reset the quiz to "No" for this will remove your data from the Gradebook. The quizzes will be stored under "Assignments" and you can remove them at this location so your students will not be able to access them.
  5. At the Availability Options you can select your quiz under the assignments button and can make the quiz unavailable when you choose.

Now click the "Return to Course" button and take the quiz to make sure that it is working the way you want.
