For spring/summer 2009, faculty can select from 23 different configurations of Dell, Fujitsu, and Apple computers with Windows Vista, or Macintosh OS OS X operating systems.

Baseline computers (2009-01, 2009-02, 2009-07, 2009-9, 2009-11, 2009-13, 2009-14, 2009-15, & 2009-18) are supplied by default at no charge. All Other models (2009-03, 2009-04, 2009-05, 2009-06, 2009-08, 2009-10, 2009-12, 2009-16, 2009-17, 2009-19, 2009-20, 2009-21, 2009-22, & 2009-23) require an additional departmental payment as indicated. By default, a baseline desktop computer will be supplied for all participants (named or unnamed) for whom no information has been supplied by January 9, 2009.

Computer delivery is expected to begin by early April, 2009. If the "pre-install" option (Delivery Option 3) was selected, delivery will be be delayed until late May. See Delivery Option 3 below.

Software installation and computer delivery options:
In recognition of many requests for self-installation and configuration of software, and to expedite early spring delivery of computers to faculty, FDI no longer pre-installs software on the computers. Instead, CD-ROMs are provided for all FDI software (see list below) so that faculty, or their departmental support person, can install the software in a manner that best suits their personal preferences.

Those faculty who would prefer someone else install the software should first ask for assistance from their departmental technical support staff. If not feasible, they can request that their computer arrive with software already installed by FDI. This pre-install option must be selected during the FDI registration process in December. Please note that selecting the pre-installed software option means your computer will not be delivered until mid-May or later

Delivery Option #1
FDI will deliver the computer in early Spring and each individual faculty or department technical support will install software from CD-ROMs supplied by FDI.

Delivery Option #2
FDI will deliver the computer after mid-May and each individual faculty or department technical support will install software from CD-ROMs supplied by FDI.

Delivery Option #3
FDI will deliver the computer after mid-May with standard software to be installed by FDI (CD-ROMs will still be provided).

Notes on Operating Systems:

• UPDATE - FDI will supply Dell computers with Windows Vista Downgrade - XP Professional SP3 Install.
• UPDATE - FDI will supply Fujitsu computers with Windows Vista Business (tablet integration is optimized in this OS). Also, Microsoft OneNote 2007 is included.
  
• Windows Operating Systems are not supplied with the Macintosh computers.

* CD-ROMs for these applications will be supplied.
